Sri Thandayuthabani Temple which is situated in Tanjung Malim had its Grand prayers ceremony on the 6th December 2015 and EWRF Tanjung Malim branch served free foods and drinks to the devotees who came to the temple for the special prayers. A few students, including myself, went as volunteers to serve food for the devotees in the EWRF Booth. Let me tell you something, serving food might sound like something which is really simple. But to be frank and straight, it was extremely exhausting.
Once all the prayers ceremony was done by the temple priest, people have started to line up in a very long queue for the food because usually devotees believe that if one gets the food served by the temple will hit by tremendous good luck. Therefore, we as the volunteers were ready to start our task for the day with full of excitement because as I said earlier, serving food could be really tiring but at the same time, it can be extremely fun and satisfying when you see someone is happily enjoying the food that has been served by you. Isn’t it true?

Before the whole thing started, we helped the committee of EWRF Tanjung Malim to set up the place and prepare the drinks for the devotees. I helped to get the limes sliced for the preparation of lime juice and we had so much of laughter while doing the work. We were very careful to not get injured while cutting the limes with such sharp knives. I was not only being careful with my fingers but also was very careful to not spill anything on my white Punjabi suit that I wore to temple, but as always in the end it was spoiled by the lime juice that spilled on me while preparing the juice. My bad, but the fun part, right? Standing under the hot sun, around 12 noon, we served the food and to be frank the smell of food was so delicious that we found it hard to control our hunger. Once everything was done, we cleared the place which was full with food wrappers and paper plates and made the place as neat as it was before the event. To say the truth, we, the volunteers were really exhausted by all the cleaning stuffs that we did. Despite of all the tiredness, we were really happy to be a volunteer for such an event as divinity came along with volunteerism and it gave us a whole new experience in my volunteering life.
