In the month of December a massive flood hit the southern part of Incredible India, Chennai and made the people of Chennai face a miserable life for a certain period. This massive flood made the youths from all around the world to unite their hands together to help bring up Chennai back to its normal state. We, the students from Sultan Idris Education University, did our little part to unite together with the world in helping Chennai and its people.
On the 6th December 2015, we, the volunteers of this “Help Chennai Fund Raising Campaign” set a booth near the Sri Thandayuthabani Temple, Tanjung Malim. A few days before the campaign we gave out the brochures regarding this campaign to the public so that they could do their part as well in helping our Chennai people. I really felt that, being as a volunteer it is actually our responsibility to help the people of Chennai whom are facing a tough time due to this massive unexpected flood.
This campaign turned out to be a successful one where many people came to us to donate money, food supplies, basic need supplies, clothes and many more to be sent to the people of Chennai. We as the volunteers of this campaign were really proud to see that the faith in humanity value has been restored back again among people through this campaign. We began our charity campaign early in the morning and ended around 4pm.
At the end of this campaign we calculated the amount of money that we have collected throughout this campaign to help the people in Chennai, and the total amount that has been donated by the people was RM5890 and 8 big boxes of daily needs and supplies. We arranged our nation’s local tamil newspaper, “Nanban” to send these things to the people of Chennai as soon as possible.
I felt really proud to be a part of the team that was in charge in this campaign as it taught me the importance of humanity in each and every human and we ended our campaign with a prayers for the people in Chennai to be back to normal life as soon as possible.
